SCCC was originally the Sunnyvale Cupertino Competitive Cycling Club. Even very seasoned Silicon Valley cyclists are often not aware that we’ve been around close to 25 years and were the originators of the Spectrum ride that is today still one of the largest, fastest group rides every Saturday (9 AM at Homestead and Hollenbeck). In our early days, a significant number of our members were heavily involved in racing, some at the then USCF (now USA Cycling) Category 1 and 2 levels, and some even competing at the national level.
As the years have passed, we’ve evolved into a more casual group of road riders, with a focus on riding some of the most challenging and beautiful routes in the San Francisco Bay Area at a sane pace. We enjoy each other’s company as much as we enjoy riding!
Many of us are active with organizations like the League of American Bicyclists, working to make bicycling safer across the country — and all members are automatically enrolled in the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, whose purpose is to create a healthy community, environment, and economy through bicycling for people who work, live, or play in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
